Discipline

This is a list of the more frequently asked questions and situations that phhl families bring to league administration.

We stand behind the 24 hour rule for any emotionally charged situations. Hockey can be an emotional sport and we understand that players, families, coaches, and officials can get incredibly worked up over the events that take place at games/practices. Please, when you have something to say that regards the happenings of  weekend events... let the situation calm down for 24 hours at a minimum.

What is the 24 hour rule?

We ask that parents(or coaches) wait at least 24 hours from a heated situation to cool off before initiating contact with coaches or league officials. This rule is to put space between a heated experience and an objective conversation aimed at remedying said experience. This is includes all forms of communications, phone, email, text, etc.

Who do we report disciplinary/Misc concerns to?

Please email chet.ullrich@polaricenc.com.
Include the following details to speed up responses.
- Subject Line to formatted similar to this (10u - 11/2 - Eagles vs Toe Dragons Altercation)
- Full names and jersey numbers of all that are in question
- Time/date of game and extra details, if a review of the situation is needed (3rd period of game that started at 10:15am at Wake forest Factory - Forest side)

What do we mean by supplemental discipline?

From time to time, a situation necessitates additional discipline to be handed out. Referees can not see everything that takes place on the ice and certain plays sometime require additional review. If league officials determine that the on ice ruling is not a sufficient penalty levied upon the player or coach, the discipline will be supplemented by the league. The league retains the right to remove any player or coach from activities at our discretion.

How do we review on-ice activity?

Livebarn. Anyone is welcome to register for livebarn to view public activities at any Polar ice rink.

Can you review more than just disciplinary issues?

No, situation and game outcomes are to be determined by on-ice officials during the time slot allotted to the game. Any reviews taking place will be for informational/teaching opportunities for enrichment of those involved, but will not be used to change outcome of completed events.
